Site Memorial of Ye Ting Independent Regiment Headquarters

The Site Memorial of Ye Ting Independent Regiment Headquarters stands as a core landmark embodying the spirit of the “Iron Army.” It serves as a key exhibition venue for the centennial (100th anniversary) renewal of the regiment and is widely recognized as a major patriotic education base and a platform for revolutionary history studies in China.

Historic Chinese building with red accents and stone lion statues.

The memorial is housed within the Yuejiang Tower ancient architectural complex, featuring intricate spatial structures, beam-column layouts, and varying floor heights. This posed significant challenges for showcase customization and installation, requiring precise adaptation without causing any damage to the historic structure.

Project Challenges

Boxin assembled a dedicated project team to deeply engage in the entire exhibition upgrade process. From initial site survey and spatial planning to showcase design, manufacturing, and final installation, a one-stop, end-to-end solution was delivered:

Complex Historic Architecture Constraints

Diverse Collection with Strict Conservation Requirements

The wide variety of artifacts—ranging from paper documents and textiles to large-scale military equipment—demands differentiated protection solutions. Sensitive items require strict control of temperature, humidity, oxidation, and moisture, while heavier artifacts impose high standards on load-bearing capacity and sealing performance.

Tight Project Timeline

As a key project for the 100th anniversary reopening, the schedule was highly compressed. Efficient coordination of customization, manufacturing, logistics, and on-site installation was essential to ensure timely project delivery.

Through multiple on-site surveys, the team conducted one-to-one dimensional optimization for irregular structures and beam-column layouts. Modular customization and flexible manufacturing ensured each showcase precisely fits the architectural space.

Precision Customization for Complex Spaces

Professional Conservation Systems

Showcases were equipped with advanced systems for temperature and humidity control, moisture resistance, anti-oxidation, dustproofing, and pest prevention. Combined with museum-grade ultra-clear / low-reflection laminated glass, this ensures both physical protection and microclimate stability, while maintaining excellent viewing clarity.

Efficient Project Execution

A refined project schedule was implemented, optimizing production and logistics workflows. Specialized installation teams applied non-invasive installation techniques tailored for historic buildings, accelerating progress while preserving structural integrity. The entire installation and commissioning were completed on schedule.

Design that Serves the Narrative

Following the principle of “blending into the environment while highlighting the artifacts,” the showcases adopt a restrained design language that aligns with both the red-themed exhibition and the historic architecture. Visual presence is minimized to emphasize the artifacts, complemented by professional exhibition lighting for immersive storytelling.
